Entrepreneurship has become a significant factor in the national economy (Collins, Hanges, and Locke 2004). The presence of entrepreneurs also influences economic progress and improvement because they can create jobs, improve people’s quality of life, increase income distribution, utilize and stabilize resources to boost national productivity, and enhance people’s welfare (Mutiarasari, 2018). Furthermore, Hebert and Link (1988) in Gedeon (2010) identified 12 roles of entrepreneurs, including 1) bear the risks associated with uncertainty, 2) supply capital, 3) innovator, 4) decision-maker, 5) leader, 6) manager, 7) organizers and coordinators, 8) owners, 9) employers of factors of production, 10) contractors, 11) intermediaries, 12) resource allocators.

Furthermore, McClelland also identified that entrepreneurial activities involve (a) risk-taking, (b) energetic activity, (c) individual responsibility, (d) money as a result measure, (e) anticipation of future possibilities, and (f) organizational skills (Gedeon 2010). According to several studies, e.g., Hutagalung et al. (2019); Lee and Hidayat (2017); Novita, Irawan, and Suwitorahardjo (2018); Rambe (2019); Suprapto and Herta (2018), David McClelland argues that to achieve prosperity, a minimum ratio of 2% of the population must be entrepreneurial. Therefore, the role of the entrepreneur is significant for a country’s economic development and prosperity (Mustaqim, 2019).
